Fruity mandarins from Sóller together with herbs from the Tramuntana mountains:
The new Cabraboc gin pearls combine Mallorca’s special aromas to create a culinary experience.
In the northwest of the sunny island of Mallorca is the mighty Tramuntana mountain range. And between these mountains and the coast – somewhat hidden and formerly only accessible via winding mountain roads – lies the town of Sóller.
The valley of Sóller has always been called the Orange Valley because of its numerous orange, mandarin and citrus plantations.
This is probably one reason why in 2012 a German-Mallorquin trio from Sóller fulfilled a dream and founded the company “Spirit of the Island”. The aim: to create special gins that combine the herbal and fruit flavours of the island.
They named their brand “Cabraboc” after the goats that live in the surrounding mountains and for whom the aromatic mountain herbs are also very popular. That’s why every bottle is adorned with the original and distinctive head of the Tramuntana goat.
Meanwhile the Gins enjoy not only on the island great popularity. Just one proof: Cabraboc is the official sponsor of the Balearic Barkeepers Association and is used in their barkeep competitions.
A speciality among the Cabraboc gins is the Mandarina Gin Liquer – a sophisticated interpretation of the classic Sloe gin supplemented with mandarin fruit aromas.
First, the spicy gin, which is distilled with herbs from the mountains and of course with juniper, is mixed with sloe berries. They are the essential ingredient and eponym of the name. The intense aromas of the Sóller mandarins round off the gin.
Whoever has tried this authentic gin – strictly speaking more liqueur than gin – will not forget it again.
That’s why we decided to use the Cabraboc Mandarina Gin Liquer for our pearls. The complex mixture of pleasant sweetness, refreshing fruit acidity, the aroma of the mandarin and the intense juniper notes are particularly effective when concentrated in small pearl form.
The Cabraboc pearls are an absolute highlight on desserts, fruits, ice cream, cocktails and mixed drinks, not only in terms of taste, but also visually.
